The position of Captain/Security Administrator under general direction of the Warden shall be specifically charged with all matters relating to the safety and security of the detention center and the custody, care, and treatment of all inmates. This position will Oversee and direct the work of correctional officers and other staff, ensure that all staff adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulations and conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure safety and security standards are met. The Captain will work with security staff to monitor inmate activities and behavior to maintain order and security, Address and resolve inmate conflicts and issues and will oversee inmate movements, including transfers, visits, and activities. The position of Captain will Implement and enforce security protocols to prevent escapes, violence, and contraband, respond to emergencies and incidents, including fights, riots, and medical emergencies and Conduct searches of inmates, cells, and common areas for contraband. The Captain will maintain accurate records and reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and facility conditions, prepare shift schedules and ensure proper staffing levels and conduct performance evaluations and provide training for correctional supervisors and staff. Employee will coordinate with law enforcement, legal personnel, and other agencies as needed. Communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and external stakeholders. Facilitate inmate rehabilitation and reintegration programs. This employee will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop and implement facility policies and procedures. This position will stay updated on best practices and changes in correctional policies and procedures and will work with but not responsible for the Administrative, RHU, Compliance, Transport or Training Lieutenants. The Captain will be working close with these positions to determine compliance and oversee the Special Response Team and the Field Training Officer program. The Captain is responsible for the enforcement of all laws, rules, and regulations relating to the administration of the institution, may assume all duties and responsibilities for the facility in the absence of the Warden make unannounced random weekend, night, and holiday inspections of the facility to ensure proper operations at all times. The Captain will be responsible for the proper use of property and economy in the consumption and use of supplies, maintenance of cleanliness, neatness, and good order throughout the detention center. The Captain must be able to perform all duties stated or others as assigned with minimal supervision. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
